Healing Trauma is a community center located in Berlin. The facility focuses on the treatment of the patients suffering PTSD through three stages: Awareness and Engagement, Housing and Community, Body-Mind healing through art.
The most challenging part of this project was finding a way to integrate a calming environment in a very dense urban area.
The program as a series of indoor rooms and outdoor spaces united through a wood frame structure corridor, provides visual stimulation, order and simple connection between spaces.
Creating an informal garden provides a place of calmness and peace where patients can gather, reflect and share experiences. The top floor is designed to experience the process of healing in an intimate space focused on Mind-Body therapy and healing through art.
